Christopher Irving

Christopher Irving is an Associate Professor in the Communication Arts department of Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts.

His work as a comic book historian can be read in Leaping Tall Buildings, The Blue Beetle Companion, Comics Introspective: Peter Bagge, and more. As a journalist/historian, Irving served as Associate Editor of the Eisner award-winning Comic Book Artist magazine, as well as its follow-up, Comic Book Creator.

As The Drawn Word, Irving has published trading card sets with the Will Eisner Estate (The Spirit), Michael Allred (Madman), and Jeffrey Brown (The Incredible Change-Bots.

He lives in Richmond, Virginia with his partner, Cat, and their son, Grayson.
