R.I.P.: Harvey Pekar
Word just came in that autobio comix innovator and American Splendor author Harvey Pekar passed away in his Cleveland home. Needless to say, we here at Graphic NYC are saddened by the loss of a comics genius and send our condolences to Harvey's wife, Joyce Brabner, and all of his friends and family.

The JRB mourns the passing of Harvey Pekar. Our just released second issue contains one of his characteristically witty musings on Jewish identity. He stopped by the office just the other day to pick up his author's copy. We'll miss him. Link: http://www.jewishreviewofbooks.com/publications/detail/gut-shabbes
ReplyDeleteHe was a terrific talent, extremely intelligent, gifted, and really loved to encourage and reach out to all kinds of creative people in support. He will be missed. I'm also sad I never got to meet him in person...
